Our client, a growing corporate firm in Nungambakkam, Chennai, wanted a sleek, modern staircase for their new office renovation. They required a custom-fabricated steel staircase with glass railings to enhance the aesthetics while ensuring durability and safety. The staircase needed to complement the contemporary interior design of the office, maintain structural integrity, and allow for maximum space utilization.

The Challenge of Projects
The project faced several challenges, starting with space constraints, as the available area for the staircase was narrow. To overcome this, we designed a compact floating staircase that maximized functionality while maintaining a minimal structural footprint. Another key challenge was material selection, as the staircase needed to be both lightweight and durable while complementing the office’s modern aesthetic. We carefully selected mild steel (MS) for the frame, stainless steel (SS 304) for handrails, and toughened glass panels to achieve the perfect balance of strength, durability, and style.
Ensuring structural stability and load-bearing capacity was another critical aspect, given the high foot traffic in a corporate setting. We used precision laser-cut steel beams with reinforced brackets and anchoring points to evenly distribute weight and eliminate vibrations. Additionally, Chennai’s humid climate posed the risk of rust and corrosion, which we mitigated by applying a powder-coated finish on the steel frame and using stainless steel (SS 304) for handrails, ensuring long-term durability with minimal maintenance.
